van Stadens Fishing

Hi all and may we all get our dream catch this year,so i am wanting a good size Steenie!!! I have heard that van stadens is good place too start what is best baits time of year and spots around there and what else can i expect too catch?

Probably my favourite fishing beach! Holds plenty of Kob and Steenies but the better sized Steenies seem to appear closer to the winter months. I know end of last year the guys were getting quite a few Steenies at Blue Horizon but I still prefer west of van Staadens, where you always find some good formation. Small chokka baits always work for me but if you can catch one of the white Ghost crabs in the surf they can be deadly. I don't usually use sand mussel as the young Steenies love it! I wait for a flatish sea and variable wind days if possible to fish there, never going if the swell is over 2m. From autumn the Leeries fishing can be really good.

Today, Leeire on livebait but we lost a lot of fish on plugs. Caught the elf on a plug.

Nicely done torch!! What kind of tide were you fishing? Tide looks nice for a morning session on the pushing tide..

Ja the tides were perfect.We got there at round 8 and easily got mullets on the low tide. My friend saw some action and with his first cast he was rewarded with a nice elf.Saw lots more action on the pushing tide though.

Ons moet so maak mark! Kuier die naweek bietji ini baai, mar ons gan beslis volgende week gan try. Wil bietjie leeries en geelsterte ini krombaai ook gan target volgende week met n boot.. reken di vlieg stokke sal handig t pas kom daar! Sorry guys for the highjack!
