That used to be our fishing spot a long time ago. I don't know what it's like these days but Barbel were big and lots of them. Only ever caught at night though. Muddie heads. The Carp took mielie, dough, basically anything.

chicken livers or small birds for barbel , anything sweet for the river ebony biddulphs ,oxblood, vaaldam,

1 can whole kernel mielies take a quarter of the mielies and throw the water off  into a new new bottle or holder and and white suggar to the mielies ad a liitle bit of water to wet sugger shake mielies in holder with  sugar ad more sugar so it covers the mieles and shake again ,leave for 2 hours and let it soak in the sugar with little bit of water and use works like a bom.

Yellow floatie with a plain dough backing worked well for me there during the summer, also earthworm (I have only caught carp & muddies there). If I did use a dip, I got a few bites on Polo. Winter fishing is a bit more tricky there, muddies came out on Garlic or Strawlic.....any other resorts anybody can recommend in the area besides Erina?

I caught my biggest large mouth yellow 5.2KG in the barrage. I also hooked a monster of a fish, never saw it, but it did bend my hook. I used mosquito larva floaties with worms (killler combo) plain floaties, and mealie pips. Oh yeah... lots of yellows and carp.

Beware there are monsters in there... this is where i stayed http://www.kamdebo-on-vaal.co.za/home.php
