Got this on my last cast Yesterday. It took a gulp white worm on drift. He was all on his own between the flagtails and didn't even thing twice about grabbing the bait like the fagtails do. Once landed it freekin vibrated in my hand like a Bonito on steroids! It is not a maasbunker, that I know. Looks more like family of the Cape Yellowtail. Please help guys.

It is definitely a scad of some sort.. Common name is a slender scad . very closely related to the Mozzie but not the same as the one that you get in the cape.. There are about four different ones that are very similar that we catch up this part of the world..

I love catching those strong swimmers, mozzies and Mackerel etc, no matter the size they are very entertaining. Looks like a lesser kingfish candy to me;)

Its a yellowtail scad (Trahurus novaezelandiae) get them in plague proportions over here , one of the best live baits or dead baits there are. have taken a few on red camo worm they average round the 18 - 26cm , little steam trains.
