i have read many posts recently about AWESOME 50-odd kg yellowfin being caught of CT recently & I would do my nut to catch one of these fish.

was wondering what a day charter goes for? how many anglers to a boat? when the season runs? ect. would really dig to do this next time i'm in the cape.

i know HT & MILES are the fundis. do you guys charter?

thanks

Hi There ,

Gordons Bay boat charters are great www.gbboatcharters.co.za

Speak to Barry or Kevin.

A typical tuna charter per person will cost you in the region of around R 1450.00 to R 1650.00 per person , however you can hire most boats excslusively or join up with other guys that are on a waiting list.

Tuna is a bit slow at the moment , but they are out there.

The above company boats accomodate up to 6 angles with ease.

Marc - Try www.southseasafaris.co.za , Alan Du Plessis's outfit... they are the top of the pile down here in the Cape by a long way....

Unfortunately they don't come cheap....

How many okes are you looking at coming down with and when bro?

Ja, call Alan the other okes from that side don't come close to his standards.
Pitty we no longer have Jabulani out here from Millers. Rob was/is a legend charter operator and fish magnet.

a few things to remember when you PAY SOME ONE to take you fishing ......you dont fish COMMERCIALLY  FOR THEM.sorry to say i have not met a honest charter operation esp for tuna .seems to be the norm to take paying clients out to catch fish and then to keep all the fish to sell to their markets .some of the bigger/well known houtbay charter operations even go so far as to give the 1st fish to the client and then keep the rest for the "boat", that fish is then sold hell  i even know where it gets off loaded .

Try this when you call a charter operator.....get his price for the day.....then  tell him you only want to tag/release  all fish caught and he or his deckie cant put a line in the water,  then see his price go up ... and if he doesnt want to release the fish you catch  SCREW HIM AND HIS BOAT  GO  FIND SOME ONE THAT WILL !!...a few guys [local and international]  have been screwed in the last few weeks with charter operators selling the fish the client has caught or better still the client got to keep 1 longfin only and the 5 yellowfin he caught was  taken as the boats  and sold .

tell me why a charter boat has to carry 500kg of ice ,mutton cloth ,reamers and  saws for a days recreational fishing .

thats just my bit
