Trying to get the Lic for the radio was easy. Called ICASA 100 x never got an answer

Went to them in Sandton,4 buildings, not one of the receptions knew which building you had to do to !

Now sorted

Getting a "operating Lic" is another story

ICASA tells you to contact person A
person A tells you he dont do it no more you must contact SAMSA PTA
SAMSA PTA tell you they dont do it, you must contact SAMSA Cape Town
I live in JHB, SAMSA Cape Town Cannot help me coz i live in JHB !

I must Call SAMSA Durban OR SAMSA PE maybe they can help me

I dont live in Durban or PE ! ! !

What a croc of BS ! ! !

It's for this sort of reason that I fish in Moz. Pay your fishing permit and launch fee (at most Lodges) and go fishing. Awesome. Now getting a tax clearance certificate from SARS... Eish! I was denied mine the other day because my certified copies of my ID were certified more than 3 months ago ^^..

SAMSA Durban just confirmed that I have to do the test either in Cape Town, PE or Durban

Cant do it in JHB

So radio permit is through ICASA
Operators permit through SAMSA

It seems that this changes on a regular basis though !

I must have spent at least 2K from my cell phone and Im not relocating to the coast soon, so still buggered

I have to go to Duban to write a 1 hour exam !

And i thought getting a firearm Lic was PT ! ! !

Wrote the exam for my restricted radio opperators ticket at the ICASA office in Cape Town, and they issued the ticket, but that was a couple of years ago.

I had a horrendous time just getting a license for a 29 meg radio.

You need the license to legally buy a 29 meg radio.

Went to ICASA offices in P.E....filled in all the form's and they were sent away...I then received a email from ICSA head office Gauteng telling me to pay in the fee via bank transfer....which I did....this was in 2009

After which I repeatedly phoned them and mailed them to find out where my 29 meg radio operators license was....

11 months later I receive another account in the post as well as via email for .........R 14 administration fee to issue the licence that I was waiting almost a year for.

So, off I went and I paid the R 14 administration fee....and I sent proof of payment to ICASA....

I eagerly awaited my licence so I could go and buy my NEW 29 meg radio !!!!

The next thing I receive a new account for another R 214 for for the " expired " license that I had never received....over a year later.

Try speaking to them and ask WHY you must pay again for a license renewal when you have not received the license in the first instance over a year earlier.....

Their efficiency at ICASA is to say the least Shockingly poor....

I finally received my license in April of 2012....after almost 2 years of struggle.

Viva, Viva, Viva the new South Africa.
