A trip up to Lydenburg yesterday too fish the Speekboom River ended in a great day. In total we caught 89 fish between 3 guys, the fishing was very technical but it worked out fine. The water is super clear at the moment leading too the fish being spooky, and that they were, the river is full of rainbow as well as brownies its most I have ever seen in a river. Most of the fish averaged around 16’’ to 18’’, but there are allot of monsters in between them. The first fish caught for the day was a healthy 4 pound brown, which set the tone for the rest of the day, we tried some dry fly fishing but they would not rise to the fly, we changed too a nymph & buzzer setup with a indicator and clubbed them all day, changing flies where important as the fish were changing their diet often, but stuck too the set up we had rigged up with and it produced all day.
