Trigger for Exage

I have the Exage 1446 which I originally bought to fish with my BG60.  I "upgraded" to the Speedmaster and want to know if it is possible to have a trigger fitted to this now?

Can be done!!! Take it to a rodbuilder and let them do it!! Try Gremlins , I am sure they will/can do it!

Had it done by Gremlins a year ago on a 1468,works like a charm, also changed the grip to shrinkwrap, its up to personal preference.

Hiya Wart,

There are two options...

First, As WP34 mentioned you would have to take the rod to a rod builder and have the winch changed. This option can cost a couple of hundred bucks depending on the make and size of the winch you choose.

Second, the POMMIES have a number of triggers which 'zip strap' onto STD winches. This option is adjustable and removable and comes at a fraction of the cost of a perm trigger.

I saw these on many guys rods when I lived in the UK, but I recently saw Hooked fishing with one on one of his AFAW rods. Try sending him a PM, maybe he can source them for us local guys?

I have actually seen those zip-straps at an outdoors shop and have also used them on some older(very older) rods that does not always secure ones reel 100%.Recently I have introduced the proper coasters(as per the Brittish anglers) onto a Fuji reelseat, obviously on the rear-section of the winch. This also allows one to "angle" the trigger slightly (say to 20minutes to on the dial when looking up the butt from behind),it definately accomodates smaller hands to a large degree and sits in a better position than most triggers.
