trek fishing

hi guys i am trying to find out how far a trek can take place from a river mouth estuary The reason i asked this question is, this afternoon i seen the guys doing a trek 200m from the sandvlei mouth...is that leagal.....question time...sorry for my ignorance are we akkowed to post video's and if so how do i go about this thanks

This whole treknet issue makes me sick!

I heard the guys at Muizen apparently caught tons of fish yesterday. Big, small, kob, stumpnose, breeding fish, babies, whatever came by even if the season is closed.


If they are allowed that because its their 'heritage', theyll probably be allowed to do it inside an estuary if that was their 'heritage'.

What a joke

Kliptein, u not the only one , believe me....i am sure there is a law they breaking.... how does one have a law that states anglers allowed 5 per day and trek fisherman 1000 per day!!!!!!!...

as a result of the breeding stock saga at sandvlei a year ago a municipal bye law was brought into play no fishing for a certain distance from the river mouth... i would imagine as good practice this law would have to apply to treks?

thats very helpful Subaruseum.....now if i can get the distance..... i have been fishing this coast for 30 years and am x%tvol with these guys.....we dont get the bloukoppe anymore those guy affected their feeding habits

Hi fishingthecape

I remember the Zandvlei mouth being one of the boundaries in the permit.

The vlei mouth has no bearing on management.
