Hi guys,

Bought a boat in November yeehaaa (Straycat) apparently pre kosi cat. Now i wanted to know, as i have bought a chartplotter/sounder if i mount the transducer next to the fishfinder transducer if they will interfere with each other. I only want to do this to cross refrence both readings???  But dont mind taking off the fishfinder if need be as to move it is to much hassle rerouting the cable etc.

I once made the mistake of running two transducers (one on the port and one on the starboard side ) from two seperate machines . The reason being that I had a colour finder with no gps and a combo unit that was only black and white .

I found you could never run both finders together because they picked up and echo in the water from the other machine .

My solution to my problem was to unplug the transducer to the combo . I could then use my colour finder and the gps function of the combo .

In hindsight I may have been able to run one finder at 50khz and the other at 200 khz . Maybe they wouldnt have interfered with each other .

But to answer your question I wouldnt put two transducers on one side of the boat unless one transducer was purely a temperature transducer/probe .

Tx Nautica i thought as much. Will take old one off and use the existing holes rather than drilling more. black and white x50 lowrance fishfinder anyways rather use the 521s garmin combo that i just purchased.

You can also change the ping rate on one of the units to reduce the interference.
