Trailer Winch Mounting

GT Mayhem

So i recently purchased a Runva 8000lb winch to mount on my trailer. Getting tired of manually winching the boat up everytime and with more surf launching in the future i feel its now a necessity.

I dont do offroad much so i dont want to mount it on the vehicle. Having to mount it on the trailer will save me the expense of having to mount it on my car.

Looking for recommendations on how to correctly mount it on the trailer, wire connections etc.
I will be reversing my vehicle and trailer to the boat and then loading it. Anyone got info, pics etc of how they did theirs please lets hear it.

TIA

Hi there. First of all, why do you want such a big winch to pull your boat onto the trailer? Surely it doesn't need 8 tons. Mount the winch the same as you would with a normal boat winch, or if it is too big you can mount it on the chassis and then take the cable over a pulley. For the electrical connections you can have battery cables fitted under the car and a heavy duty plug at the back to connect the winch to the cars' battery. Just remember that a winch draws a lot of power, so keep the cars engine running whilst winching.

The winch is not rated at 8 tons, but rather 8000lb which is under 4 tons.
Boat can weigh upto 2 tons, and then the force of pulling it off the sand and up the trailer.... So this size winch is correct
