Trace again

Hi can someone please help me with the use of igfa clips as i am trying to refrain from using treble hooks.

Will the clip be strong enough to hold big fish without opening ( if i should loop my trace trough the clip only) and not Haywire twist through the eye of the clip.

The IGFA clips are designed to let you use more than 1 single hook in a bait to comply with IGFA rules (max 2 singles), but a lot of guys make the mistake of clipping their hook wires onto the clip - big mistake it WILL open. The correct way is to run your leader wire to the eye of the clip and attach with a haywire. Then run your hook wires back to the hooks, also attach each of these to the eye of the clip with a haywire. The clip goes dead centre through top and bottom jaws of the deadbait or through the top lip of the livebait.

That is what i wanted to know. will in future just make some traces like this. And the baits i rig with the needle just use a single lead hook to hook my bite traces on. ( this wont be within igfa rules as there is 3 single hooks) any better trace to use if you would like to release fish.

Very Basic but i think it will help. here is the normal single trace with 3 single hooks.

This is the wrong way to use a igfa clip as Bwana said it will open if you just clip it onto the clip
