This is what powers Range Rover:
Twin turbo 3.6L pushes 640NM @ 2000RPM
The 2011 onwards 4.4L makes 700NM and you are talking 10L/100km
The 5.0L petrol Supercharged makes 375KW with torque also in the 600's
I saw a programme on the long awaited doublecab Land Cruiser...
Still an ox wagon with mickey mouse power old V8 and stupid fuel consumption to match. Torque around 450NM
And the Japs know about automotive techknology...look at the Nissan Skyline.

Thanks dug , but luckily I will mainly just be launching her , fuel consumption is heavy.

Get a disco 2 td5 ,they have quite a nice pulling power.
disco 3 v8's are going for around r120k ,even though heavy on fuel ,at least reliable and not to expensive to repair.the disco 3 tdv 6 very costly repairs.
Depends what you want to spend,under r100 k,get a disco 2 td5
ford 3.2 ,rubbish engines and gearboxes dont last
good value for money that can pull a lot of waite ,landy is your answer.
i had a disco 2 td5 and pulled a 25 ft commercial boat all over and was getting like 9 km per litre with 7 man up.

now i have a disco 4 tdv 6 ,she does not even know about the 25 ft magnum when towing.

I have a 2.2 ranger 4x4. My boat is a 16ft and it has no problem towing the boat. I want to upgrade to a 19ft boat but not very confident that it will be able to pull the boat.
I have been advised to install a chip that will increase the performance. My question is, has any body on the forum done this with success.
Any advice will be appreciated

I have fitted a chip in my Isuzu 300LX and what a difference it made; from zero to hero. Sometimes you tend to forget your are towing something. I fitted the Diesel Torque chip, it is adjustable so you can set it for economy or power.

What make of chip did you fit.
I do not trust after market performance products as the manufacturer would have increased the Hp if feasible.
can you therefore please provide us with more info, as I have considered it.

I have also fitted a chip on my hulix. Work like a charm! Have done over 50 000km with no issues! I have the Race Chip Pro 2. It increased the kw form 120 to 141, and nm from 343 to 420. And my fuel consumption is amazing. Did a long trip last week (not towing) got around 13,8km/l at the pump. I would highly recommend is.

Jip, just over 7l/100km. Day to day I get around 8,5l/100km. I am actually looking at selling because of its tow rating only being 1500kg, and my boat has a GWM of 2500kg.

Don't know if the question was aimed at me as to what kind of chip it is? It is called "Diesel Torque". I am sure if you drive any car like a street racer daily it will not last, even if you drive a Ferrari that can do more than 300km/h. The chip increase performance and is readily available WHEN NEEDED. However if you utilise the increase in performance 100% of the time something will eventually break.
