Ok
So here's the low-down on the reason for this topic......
Vlakvark, The Kid and I went out to a friend of Vlakkies Brother in PTA, and there was thick grass-like patches in one of the dams, dying/dead but still anchored to the dam's floor.
So The Kid was messing about and got strike after strike after strike, all on one cast and retrieve, fast and paused, twitched etc. but he didn't set one hook. So as we're about to pack up and leave I just wanted to cast in this dam a little so that I could dry my soaked B-Hind as I fell off the canoe and into the water

, ja ja it happens so I hear, anyhows, The Kid's been messing about with forktail-dingers and the likes, (claims he had a frog on earlier), so I told him to tie a frog and did it myself, First couples of casts I too missed a couple, and then realised that them LGF's strike the lure just behind the paused point when I started the retrieve again, so I changed to a slow and later faster but constant retrieve and immediately after doing so I landed the first 1kg, the rest wasn't that easy, got the strikes, did the hookset, felt the weight, but only landed a ball of deadgrass no fish......
So topwater is possible even in midday and yes Ladies and Gents even in GP, so you boy's down in the warmer more tropic regions (KZN) PONGOLA (the best venue in GP) stop grinning now

, we too get them that way
Thanks for all the replies and posts it surely (as far as I'm concerned) a facet of bassing that doesn't get all the coverage that it ought to get as it's probs the best type of bass-fishing that one can do, really adrenaline pumping stuff.
