They shad are in danger too

You could actually split it down the middle to add through wires and a weight. Then you glue it back sand a little more to even the joints, resin, paint and would have a perfectly good lure.

Hey Bennie, nice one bru! I'm gonna try this. A mate organized me some surfboard foam today. Just a question or two first tho plz...

What adhesive do you use to glue the two halves back again?

Do you use stainless welding wire? What resin - normal fglass boat resin? i have some gelcoat (but not resin) - can i use that instead?

thanks dude.
Howzit,
I use ordinary resin, I haven't used gelcoat, not sure... You can use super glue to glue it back or even the resin. Another thing you could do is to lay fibre glass over it to make it more durable as I did with Lucy. With this lure I doubt the shad will destroy it. Put a decent coat of resin, let it cure, sand it slightly and add a second coat. The trick is to just keep brushing it on and adding more and more just preventing it from running until it gels. When it starts gelling, stop or you will make a mess.

I use 1,6mm stainless steel tig wire, because I got plenty off. For a smaller lure, you can use 1mm.

Get some resin rather. It's cheap. Maybe someone else can comment on using gelcoat.

A tip, Shape it bigger than what you actually want it before fitting the wire. Then finish shaping it.

It should end up something like this! This one will get some sanding with 600# and then final clear. Sorry for the poor pic.

That's very nice Bennie. I had a very similar idea in mind but you beat me to it. I suppose that's the beauty of lure building it's as vast as your imagination.
