THE WORM

i have persissted and tried out most dropshot products including the worms and have had success with the berkley sandworm in camo.they really do work if cut into three pieces and used on a 1/8th ounce jighead with a small no.6 hook.

found it best fished off rocks and reefs and allowed to drift around.there was an instance where there were many fisherman using bait and catching reef fish and i went to the very same spot and got the biggest specimans.

got sum big blacktails,zebras,stonebream and banded galjoen ond dropshot.

anyone else had success dropshotting??and with what lures??

got steenbras, wave garick and goat fish as well all on camo worm also using the same size hooks and worm.
not to much on the minnows yet only a few shad and little kingies.

Tats good to hear,i myself havnt had much success on the minnows.only caught shad with them and they seem to love the ones in shocking neon colors.great fun on light tackle but a new lure after every fish.still great fun catching fish without bait tho.lost a few big ones last week at the bluff.

the next species on my list is a kingie.any info and tips on how to go about getting one would be much appreciated

well i have only picked up a few kingies from Kosi bay mouth and up a long the mozam coast. was at chitenguela (cant remember the exact spelling) and they have some lovely tide pools the one is close on 500m long and up to 100m across. only got a few small kingies there, big eyes and Blue fins but a few giant kingies of up to 45kg have been caught in the area but they have been off plugs.

sounds great man im sure it was loads of fun geting them kingies on dropshot.any advice and techniques you can share on pursueing this species would be greatly appreciated

Hi PoiZN,

Pearl Blue shad and chartreuse flukes are my two fav flukes for kingies. Look out for fast working water, ie: drains near ledges, a drop off near a sand bank where deep water is close by and lots of foam.

Go flouro on ure leader and be selective on ure hooks. The cheaper variety tend to bend open. A fast to medium retrieve and keep ure fluke pretty much in the upper column of water.
