Hi Ed

The river will be pretty high the water will be not to murcy the fishing should be good ,not as good as Okt./November .There is also a inter competition at Olive Beadle (All Specie)

Fish up to Black rock and the pumpstation .You can also trawl from little Kariba back to Msuna.

Tight lines.

Hi ED

Little Kariba is +-4 kliks from Msuna .Down towards Devils Gorge(Gwaai River)also very good spot is in the Gorge  but you must trawl as deep as possible.

Good Luck(I will be down there July ,September for The Toyota All Species Comp and then October the K.I.T.F.T. on Kariba)

Thanks for the tips Nautilus I will give it a try. We weren’t too lucky last year in July and October. We’ve got another 2 weeks booked in November so we will have a second chance on this section of the river. Let us know how Kariba goes.

Good day Ed

Where at Deka are you staying?  The river is not that high as last year this time, or the year before, so fishing should be easier.

Fishing with fillets and Imbiri will be the best this time of the year if the water is mercy.

Hi Patrys
We staying at Sundonwer, I believe the water is lower than Easter last year, so with a bit of luck we may catch some tigers. Any idea how the bream fishing is this time of the year?

Good

If you like to target bream, take your own worms, alot.  both Kariba and normal earth worms.  Also you would need to make some ground feed to get some nice bream. Buy some "Molatek" cattle block at a Koorporasie, then you axe or break it in four pieces.  there are alot of other makes, however the "MOLATEK" works the best.

Then when you chosen a spot go throw in two or three pieces the day before you want to catch them. Or you can throw in the whole block. Dont let the locals see where you made your ground feed spot, because they will sit there early the next morning catching all your bream.  You could also ask your Guide to get some type of "maroek" which they also use to make beer, in the village to use as ground bait.  Ask Martin if he is there.  He is the elder Gentlemen working at Sundowner.  or Charity the lady cooking would also help you.

The best bream fishing spots close to Deka is where the Deka river flows into the Zambezi. You want some quieter water not fast flowing water. so you can walk from sundowner to your right all the way where the Deka flows in the Zambezi and look for a nice spot to ground bait or even in the Deka river itself.  you will see the locals catch alot of big bream in the Deka next to the old Deka Drum Resort.  or you could just take the boat to the right of the Island infront of sundowner and look for a nice quite spot of water.  Normally you cant enter that part of the river in November with a boat, however this time of the year the river is high enough to pass to the right side of the big Island infront of Sundowner.  This stretch go all the way arround the Island past the Deka river to where it joins with the Zambezi again. This is the best stretch CLOSE to Sundowner to target Bream.

Thanks Patrys, sounds like you know the area quite well. I've been to Sundowner a few times but only up behind the island last year July when the water was quite high.

Hi Ed

Sorry man, I forgot that Molatek have three different blocks on the market.  They had one for cattle which we always used but they dont make any more.  However, buy the RUMEVITE cattle block.  This is the one that work.

Sorry.
