Well here is the long awaited report back of our fishing trip yesterday.
Well myself and Scuba decided to go and fish Basslake from his boat yesterday and try some new acquired swimbaits we bought.
Well the day started at 5:00 when scuba got to my place and we had some coffee, packet the boat and we were off. Got to basslake and started getting the rods rigged up and packet so that when the gate opens we could launch the boat and start fishing. Well gate opened, paid all moneys and we were by the water putting the boat on the quarry. We started fishing to the right and up that bank. On the second cast I was on and it was the same old story as always. Hitting rats like you can’t believe. As we got to the corner I started using the swim bait and on the 3[suP]rd[/suP] cast hooked in to a pig. All hell broke loose when she started stripping of line at a rate of note. After a short fight she was landed by perfection by scuba who can net my fish any day. No miss nothing. First shot the fish was in the net and on the boat and we jumped around like crazy people. She was weighed and a couple of pics were taking before she was released in good health.
By then Scuba took his swimbait and started making cast around there as well and dropped a huge mother of a fish and lost 2 more after that. Not long after he hooked in to a 3kg piggy. We moved around picking up the occasional fish on senko’s, fluke’s and swim bait. Then 30min before we leave scuba starts using the swimbait again and on his first cast hooked in to a pig of 3.3kg’s. Again we jumped with joy and weighed the fish, took some measurement and released her to fight another day.
Took the boat out the water and had a beer to celebrate the good days fishing we had. By NO means was the weather good at all. The wind was blowing badly and was very cloudy with some serious lightning. So not a bad days fishing in such crap weather
The fish weighed as follows:
3.64kg’s, 3kg’s, 1.3kg’s, 900grams and then 3.3kg’s. The other fish were not weighed as they were the usual fish caught at basslake. We must have caught around 80 fish between the 2 of us
