That is 100% dirt!! The hull is perfect with no scratches or deformations anywhere. That slightly green patch you see on the front Port side is moss/algae. When I begin the stripping process Ill give the hull a good clean and show before and after from sitting for the last 10-15 years.

The Deck on the otherhand is non-existent.

The photo taken from Behind shows the forward (anchor Locker) bulkhead which is just rotting Plywood. None of the glass work is damaged at all.

BDM,

That hull is almost flat in the stern, so much less of a kink to the gearbox/propshaft than you would have had with the deep vee hull

Also she will plane quite easily, so I think 145 HP will be more than enough

Or is your gearbox for displacement speed? (which would be such a waste)

I tend to agree with BFC, but please still measure when you get back: Ace Craft Marine built a 7,69m SUPER SKI which is 25 foot and if this is what you have it will be the first one we know about, and very rare!

Hi Thika

Here is my Ace Craft 660 ( 1984 model) I have put 2 x 100, 4 stroke motors on her I now  miss the fuel pumps more often !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is still in a very good condition and can take a monster of a wave head on.

We fish out the Breede River and have to go through the "BAR" ,I have been on many different boats but she still is the best even if she is old.

Regards

Carl

Hallo Carl,

I was in your valleys a few weeks ago and saw your boat in your front garden

I washed my boat down at Andre's place who is just a few houses up from you (his young son is Zander)

Do you ever take a trip to the West Coast?...would love to go trawl for some tail/tuna with you on my boat!

Cheers

Theo

Thika.. I paced it out on the paving next to the hull and even with long strides I battle to make it in 6-7 steps, im 6ft on the dot. I need closer to 7-8 steps to pace it out. Ill be measuring it out tonight when I get home after work. I do have the Disp. Gearbox however ive got a few leads on some decent ones to replace it with. the engine has 12 hrs on it which is all test bed hours, oil is still golden yellow.

Bennie.. I would love to say 3-6 months but then life and work and kids get in the way so im gonna count on 1-1.5 years to do it right. I have other skiboats for fishing and diving so this is going to be more a hobbie than an urgent need to get it on the water for now, ive done similar projects with yachts and when its not done for a client it always takes MUCH longer!

I spent 45 min on the boat this morning stripping out the forward hatch and side boards(while waiting for wife and kids to do the normal slow process before work), I hope to have the rotten wood out by this weekend and then im away for 6 days with work and once I get back ill be ordering core materials to start my panel building.

So what did you think of Ocean Bounty's boat?

Hairy hey? Not as if you were not warned!

Leans into the turn Like a Ducatti 996 :temp:

Tammo,

Groete,
Hugo
