Tammo,

Do you think that boat(550) is different from the 555?

How much are you willing to spend, and will you keep the motors?

Tell us a bit more about her history

I feel sorry for her :(

Thika.

Her hull is a bit diffrent from my 555 she's much wider with a bigger tunnel and the her top deck is diffrent if you look aft from the inside ther is a huge diffrence between this boat and the 555 I think she will handle the surf and rough sea's like a dream with that big tunnel

I don't know much about here past only that she was in mozambique for a very long time

I want to replace the motors with 2 X 125hp mercury optimax I think when she's resprayed and got a new deck and all the other things done she will look like a million bucks I just love the ace cat's I still think it's the best cat's around:wfish

Tammo,

you taught us something

There WAS an Ace Cat 550!

It IS a different hull

Look at this ad:

The giveaway is the "step" in the transom.

Also look towards the bottom of the add where they refer to the pending 6,55m (misprint?) which is the 555 I am sure,

and the pending 5,0m which is the 501 I am sure

I like your T-top...the lines blends in nicely with the boat

Carlos Moran on this site had/has a boat like this I am sure, and also swears by it

The pic is somewhere on the Ace Craft page

That would be stunning!

You would have to speak to the people who build/restore yachts I would think

Here is a pic of Carlos Moran's boat

He gives a very nice write-up on post no.149

He reckons it is an Ace 555, but I am convinced it is the (preceeding) Ace 550

He says this boat has caught 400 tarpon and many marlin in Angola

But if there's somebody that can give me some advice it would be great

Note the strakes running parallel to the chine of the hull

On the semi-deep vee it is different
