The dam is not closing, Lourens has been fired and has to be off the premises by the 12th Feb to make way for the new manager.

"Good day! I just want to share the true story about donaldson dam. This comes directly from sacs.
Donaldson Bottom Lake: I have intervened a bit with the Council on behalf of SACS members and received the following answers from Zebilon.
1. Donaldson Dam is suppose to be open and anglers may currently not be stopped to enter the premises.
2. Tenders will be put out within this year to renovate and develop facilities at the lake and to build chalets and other facilities for the benefit of anglers and public visiting the lake.
3. Part of the tender will include that the developer takes over management of the lake through a long term agreement to cover his costs and to make something out of it.
4. Lourence is leaving but it is not clear who will manage bookings at the lake until the developer takes over. It is still being discussed.
5. Donaldson Dam will as far as possible be accessible to anglers while renovations are taking place.
Zebilon indicated to me that I am welcome to contact him with any enquiries and will appreciate it if anglers fishing Donaldson could forward any complaints to him."
Now all of us know the details.
I have no idea at all as to how bookings can now be made, but will try to get the contact numbers for Zebilon.

For those of you who still don’t know about the Donaldson Dam Specimen Benefit here is some more information about the event. This will be the 5th one and it is becoming a well-known event. It will take place from 29 March to 1 April at Donaldson dam Bottom Lake. There is a list that was compiled last year, please confirm with me if you will still addend the benefit.
For those of you who would not like to fish but still want to attend the event, you can come and camp with us. This event are mainly for educating and for the following groups of people: new to specimen, just started out, who would like to convert to specimen angling and people who want to learn more . There would be talked about following subjects: rigs, carp care, gear, boilie making, baits and bait placements. If you are still a newbie and you do not have the proper gear, there are people who would assist in this. This time we will be placing 3 newbies with the guides, this means that the guides will not be fishing. The line limit is still the same with this change, 2 rods per angler so 6 rods per swim.
Here is the cost for the weekend, 4 day event as the 1 of April is a holyday; sins the Guided will not be fishing they will not be charged a cover fee, for the newbies it will be R450 and for people that would like to camp it will be R150.00p/p, Day visitors R50.00p/p. Children 0-5 free, children 5-12 R10.00 p/p.
This even will be arranged by Specimen Politics and SACS.

Hi all, here is the list of newbie and guides so far. The events date is from the 29the March to the 1st April 2013. The only way to get your name on this list, going forward, is to send me a sms to 0832368295 with your name, surname, tell no and guided or newbie at the back. If your name is on the list, please make sure that you make your payment before the 5th of March as I need to pay the counsel no later than the 15 March. This will also insure that your place is secured. The bank detail is as follows, MJ Britz Standard Bank Savings Acc no. 044986777. PLEASE USE OUR NAME AND SURE NAME AS A REF SO THAT I CAN ALLOCATE THE PAYMENT TO YOUR NAME. Guides will not fish and they will also not pay for this event. Newbies payment needed is R450. Unfortunately, because of "Specimen Politics" BS, Louis has pulled out of doing the benefit, it will now be handled by Guys Britz (no relation to Louis, but also highly experienced in guiding and Specimen Angling), and the benefit dates have changed to the last weekend in April.

Thanx. The reason Im asking is because I tried to book at Donaldson for this weekend, but I was told that there's a "benefit" going on, the guy doesn't have details, all he said was other bookings had to be cancelled & I cant book, because of the "benefit"
