Mine is Witsand.I have been going there for more then 15 years and will continue going there untill i am no more hahah.

The diversity of the place with its rich history in fishing terms just do it for me.Low and high tides does not matter to me as i have done extensive studies about the place. Most of them coming from the locals.

For me going there twice a year, i dont mind traveling the 300km cause its worthwhile, safe and my family enjoy the place aswell.

Witsand my place of choice !

Has to be richards bay. My fishing heaven on Earth. We go here every year. Excellent fun, never disappointing! In the mornings, the sky is purple... Dolphins swim through the estuary... then the shad come out because of abundance of Mullet. There have been reportings of big salmon landed near the bridge side due to spawning. In the Complex itself, u can fish from your balcony so even the kids and mom cn get involved! Perches, moonies, mullets etc always biting in the day. In the night, i saw first hand a Prodigal Son ( or something close to that!!!) chase a grunter i just released back.

I have reason to belive that the Mzingazi River estuary ( That runs through richards bay under the Tuzi Gazi bridge ) is highly productive. Im serious when i say this, not once did i ever come home empty handed. Theres an abundance of juveniles and the predators come through the river.
List of what has been caught or seen in the estuary

- Dolphins ( mornings only )
- Crocodiles

Fish ( caught ):
- Eels
- Crab
- Huge Kob(and small)
- Grunter ( up to a 5kg one caught )
- Shad ( mornings )
- Garrick
- Mullet ( hence the predators )
- Maasbanker
- Razor Belly
- Perch/ River Bream
- Moonie
- Stumpnose
- ParrotFish
- Goatfish
- Skate
- Kingfish (juvenile only )
- Bream ( dono what it was but it was dark and pulled my rod in lol but retrieved rod and fish! thats a good story)
- Surgeon
- Butterfly fish
- Rockcod
- Greedy Gut
- Needlefish ( excellent deep sea bait )
- Springer
- Picklehandle Cuda
- Prodigal Son
- Sicklefish/ Mirrorfish

For me its Henties(no surprise)
The 2000km road trip, the compulsory group pic at Bennie se Rooi lorrie, prepping your tackle, and the early morning missions.. Then the straight road up north, the atlantic on your left and the sun rising over the desert on your right.
I think its about fishing with a group of mates, but not really talking much. During fishing, the quiet times. On a couple occasions I've taken my tackle and started walking up the coast, its a awesome experiance, just by myself for a hour or 3. Then the trip back to henties, making a fire and having a rum with Angus. Henties has definately stolen my heart.
