Targeting grass carp

Hi guys,

I need some advice and tips please.

I see hundreds of massive grass carp swimming in the Vaal at Wolwespruit nature reserve, but just cannot catch them, I've tried all the usual papgooi tricks, but they just do not bite and all I catch are common carp. I can see the monster grass carp swim right over my feeding spot, but they just are not interested and this has been the case since before the winter when I first tried to target them.

Are there any specific techniques to catch them or any special bait they prefer? I've caught grass carp at Bloemhof dam before, but that was "by accident" and they were small. The ones I see in the river are HUGE and there's hundreds of them.

you'll have to start off conditioning them,in other words keep feeding and feeding...and feeding more...they'll eventually start picking up your feed.quality boilies or particles.i've seen guys pick them up on cherry tomatoes on a hair rig.patience and more patience....goodluck

There's a little subculture of guys that target them on Fly pretty successfully if they are cruising by within casting range that may be worth a shot.

Fly is probably the best bet if they're cruising close to surface.

I've caught plenty of small ones close to Bothaville by jigging small pieces of green powerbait wigglers close to water's surface.

If you can get close enough a green-feathered loodkop dipped aacurately might also do the trick.

Cheers
