Hi Guys.

Heading of to a private farm dam near Pretoria on sunday. And it looks like to obs will have to keep us warm, any tips on targeting carp on these cold days? stronger or weaker flavours etc.

Much appreciated.

Hi,

Generaly speaking, the anglers prefer stronger flavours for the winter, but this is not cast in stone.

The key factors will be distance (depth of water) and time (more than 45min) that you will let the baits in the water.

Smaller baits on the hooks and not as much dip on the bol. Keep it simple.

Thanks for the reply! thats a good baseline to work from, so I presume deeper is better?

Deeper as in deeper water yes. This is just a general guideline once again.

Sometimes you might find the odd fish in shallower water.
