Hi Andre, welcome to Sealine.

Do you want to convert to specimen angling? If so - then there are some sticky posts at the top, have a look at those and we will help you from there.

Boilies are not a replacement for mielie bom....LOL!!!

Let us know and we will help.

Welcome to Sealine Andre54....

Well you talking about fishing conventional style with the mieliebomb, and 2 hooks...like a rietvlei trace?.
Boilies are used in specimen angling on hairs off one hook only, which is vastly different to Conventional angling. we dont really use a mieliebomb but its not unheard of, we call them method feeders lol!
For conventional angling a mieliebomb has been developed and found to be the best way to catch the class of fish its intended for. normally smaller than 5kg.
If you want to target larger fish you need to use specimen tactics and rigs and baits. But Im sure you can appreciate the fact here that we wont just elaborate to a stranger these things in fear of our big carp being poached...
There is a lot of info in the archives where you could readup on if you serious about going to the "NEXT LEVEL" so to speak, although we dont see it as levels, but rather as a different style, where fish care is practiced, catch and release, and doing it safely.

Andre, the european style of carp fishing (or 'specimen' carp fishing) is a style of carp fishing used for catching bigger carp... in other words size instead of numbers...

But putting a boilie on does not guarantee success. In fact, boilies is ony a small part of it. Just like bass fishing, trout fishing etc. specimen carp fishing is a style on its own with specific equipment, tactics, methods and ethics... end result = big carp.
