I know, Trophy's pictorials always land me in the garage at night making traces

I don't think i'll ever be able to use all the traces i've made to date in this life time

But hey it's great fun

My version with 2 x 14/0 forged Tuna hooks. 400lbs steels connected to 3/0 Power Swivel

In the middle of the power swivel is a 4/0 J hook to secure the Diamond helping to keep it off the bottom. The alternative to this is to either cable tie the tail or pass a cable tie through the swivel and through the diamond's skin.

I prefer using the hook as I can secure it closer to the front and this helps to keep the fish swimming with some persuasion.

The trace is joined to the mainline with either a 400lbs steel windon or a 1.8mm Nylon windon

Holding hook deployed, on split ring to pull loose on connecting with a big fish. (The hook lines would in fact be laying in the opposite direction when attached to a flatfish

I get my heat shrink from Misguide, (Jason Demaine), he's in the Radio Control toy industry and his prices as great. Anything from 2mm to 12mm. He does all in Black and Red.

I've got a mountain of 2,3 and 4mm at the moment.

In these rigs I used 8mm for the hook ring and 4mm to keep the longer tag ends of the figure 8 in place (left them a bit long to ensure that the 400lbs can pull tight and not slip) Never, ever had a Figure 8 pull open on me with cable or nylon.

HIya Enigma,

That bling bling is catchy...hey! LoL

I hate crimps, but cannot find that 400lb soft steel anymore in PE. I have asked Builders Warehouse to place an order, but I think they might just take their time...lets talk on some supply?

Think I would switch to the fig8 if I could get my hands on the correct steel as your finish now tickles my fancy! LoL That third placement hook is a winner!

@Arno...Builders Warehouse in Charlo sells the red and black shrink, Voltex Albany Rd as well.

Trophy to tell the truth I leave the slides as they are but need to keep up with your standards on the site.

I do however, since doing it feel a lot more comfortable about leaving the tag end longer as i know with the shrink on it the tags won't be tangling the rig or my line.

I'll find out just how much of the cable I can get and what the price is and send some down to you and then the PE crowd will be sorted.

I'll also get prices on Misguide's shrink, it's literally 50% of what you will pay in hobby / hardware shops and 1/3 of what a tackle shop sells it for.

Is that a spotty in your new Avatar?

How big is it.

Just to make you a bit greener. Got me plenty 18/0 Tuna Circles when I was in Richards Bay and myself and Trophy got some boxes of 100 Mustad Tuna Circles on the way from USA 12/0-18/0
