Hi Guys,
Went fishing the venue this morning and managed to land a couple of nice large mouth bass. The smallest been 0.6Kg and the biggest for the day was 1.4kg.
We fished from 08:00 - 11:00 and landed a total of 8 fish.
The best hits were on a weedless rigged super fluke and 6" Dead Ringer (Junebug).
For the okes who do not know, Swartruggens dam is situated about 60km away from Rustenburg towards Zeerust on the N4.
I do not have GPS co-ordinates but here is a short direction from Rustenburg.
1. Travel from RTB on the N4 towards Swartruggens (about 56km),
2. As soon as you enter Swartruggens keep straight for about 1.5km.
3. At the first robot turn left and pass under the bridge,
4. Travel for +-1.3km,
5. Turn Left and follow the gravel road for 800m
6. This road will lead straight to the dams boom gate.
Additional info of the dam.
Day visitor fees are R20.00 per person.
Kids under 12 stay for free
Green grass to the water edge and trees for shade.
Dam has a neat slipway. Boat fees are R30.00 per day.
Owner has built a huge bar on the premises and stocks everything
Security gate is controlled via remote.
Ablution blocks are very neat and has hot water.
Best fishing spots
Carp - As soon as you enter, follow the gravel road to the right. any spot to the far right. ( No shade here), so take a gazebo!!
Bass - Far right corner ( pass the dams pumps )- Only way to access the spot is by foot. Follow the veld path and fish all the reeds.
