heard of guys catching at Persiverence lately using preditors. Small one come out at the wall about a week ago using livebait. There have been a few guys just off tippers creek towards the police station - late afternoon. Best of luck.

Perseverance (by the sailing club) is always good.

Put one rod out with livebait (mullet) and dropshot/spin with another.

Noise and action should attract them, if they don't take the lure they'll see and go for the livebait.

Its furter up the river towards Red House, a few nice size Grunter have come out the at the bridges. I advise if you got to Perserverance not to go alone as i heard of two guys being attacked there recently.

Perseverance is further up river than mentioned above... it is just below the Sumcay camp.  There are very few fish up there now in comparison to early December as a result of gill netting over the festive season!

Prob a better idea to focus on Modderspruit, Skulpies and the mouth area at the moment.

Trophy saw a 6kg leerie come out off the wall by the jetties this week. A old toppie caught it and released it again. Not sure what he caught it on.

Excellent fish!  I don't often fish Van Staaden's but I'm sure there will still be leerie in the surf!

There's 2 sayings I agree with :

Where there is smoke there is normally fire

Where there is ELF there is normally GARRICK

Hi, a little stumpie will def work as will a mullet.  Most of your leerie's in the Swartkops river are in the 1 - 3 kg's region.  As a result, I prefer to target the fish on artificials (poppers and leadheads).

The train bridge area is covered with rocks and red bait and is generally a difficult area to fish for leerie on live bait.  The structure does result in some good kob being in the area though.

I would focus on the entrances to all the spruits from the rod club to amsterdamhoek.  The fish tend to feed on a dropping tide as the water (and bait fish) wash out!

I spent most of Saturday at Swartkops where I know the Garrick operate. Had a go with just about every type of lure imaginable and live bait with no luck. It seldom happens that not even a chase was seen.
