Thanks aquadementia. Our social club had a competition this weekend and one of our juniors accidently caught one. Weight was 5.18kg.

Hi reefwalker , there was a plea on the radio , that any persons that spots Sun fish in Cape twon should in form the 2 oceans Aquaruim , last week there was a thread about one that washed up near Bailies , they said that the cold water , they dont like and then swim out beaching them selfves . Pretty rare catch !!!

Should you not want to disclose the area you fished , you can Pm me , with the location , i kow some guys that work for the Aquarium .

I was walking my dog on blouberg beach last week and came across about 20 of these sunfish lying rotting on the beach. All between blouberg and sunset beach.
What is the actual reason for his?
