Good day all, I have recently purchased a Suncraft, about 7.3m long. I cannot find any info on this boat ie who built them, are they still around, sea trials and how she handles?
Can anyone throw some light on this boat.

Mike

Mechanix,

Looks like you like Mr Carl Krause's boats a lot .

Karl builds Buccaneer Inflatables and The Wavebreaker/Atlantis/Breakthru deep sea boats.

The Boat is not called a SunCraft it is a "Breakthru"
and built by Camping & Boating in Benoni.
A larger version of the WaveBreaker. they were built in a
short Cabin , and then a more extended Cabin like yours
named the "Captains Cabin".

These boats went out of Style in the late 80's and RIB's were the thing. Have a look at the Running surface of the Buccaneer Semi Rigids and the running surface of your new boat.

I have some old pics.

Hi BFC

Thank you kindly for the info and the pictures. They have helped me tremendously. Now I need to know what the critics had to say about this boat when it first came out. It is quite a coincidence that I also have a Buccaneer 550 wide which was built by the same people. Cheers Mike

Breakthru Cabin

I have just read with interest, and genuine excitement, that there are other Breakthru Cabin owners still out there.
I was posted to Maputo, Mozambique with the British Government from 1997-2001, and bought my boat from a member of the Club Navale.
After four happy years of use I exported the boat to the UK where it currently sits in Pembrokeshire, west Wales.
I will try and attach images of what my boat looks like today. I would be interested in hearing from fellow owners.

With regards
David

Another image of my Breakthru Cabin which is now used on he Irish Sea.
If I had one criticism, it does push up a lot of spray. This was the reason why I had the full cuddly cabin fitted. Otherwise it's a very good, seaworthy boat and a great fishing platform.
