Hi guys,

Saturday past was our club's 2nd Club outing for the seaon, area was from Muizenberg till Steenbrass river mouth.

Our crew of 3 decide to start out at Kerkie we take the water temp and its 17 deg. not bad but its way flat and no colour, we opt out and I tell them I would like to go to the Fence, armed with live mulet we arrive, first cast I wade out and throw, standing with rod in hand and just about to put the rod in the stand to rig my 2nd rod ....... BANG I get pulled flat by what I reckon was a BEEG Spotty, i hold on for dear life and as i start pulling i feel the hooks rip through the mullet and POP!!! right out his mouth... I'm thinking agh nee not again as the same thing happened 2 weeks ago in the Interclub. quickly i chuck in the second cast with a livie and leave it to get the 2nd rod in and 20 minutes later was rewarded with a 91cm Sandy.

Rig up another smaller live mullet and chuck in as i'm wading out i turn to reset my stand in the sand i fell it bump bump and this time i reel up slack quickly and before he puled me flat i set the hooks bang and another bang for good measure! its on!! and the fight ensures my Poseiden HMG medium is bending more the 45.deg's and i'm thinking oh crap Please dont break! about 30 metres out i feel my line from my other rod tangles up with the fish and had to then walk the fish out with some difficulty.....result 163cm Black Spotty.

shew but now i was tired but the my partner says to me "as die pap dik is dan moet jy jou vol eet!"

Another live mullet gets put out and I take a walk up to the Vehichle to go get the cast net and some energades left behind, when i got back 15 minutes later just as i set the cast net on the sand my partners yell out  "jy your rod!" and its bouncing ...last time i sprinted so fast was on high school for the athletics try out a solid 50 m dash and I was in my nobbies, anyways I lift rod carefully and feel headshakesand start reeling in but strangely feel  something swim in with me and i just about keep tension, then the last couple waves i feel tug tug the it goes left and then right and i think ag nee sandy! but just then the wave lifts and i see this beautiful silver and champaigne colout in the wave and it shout its a KOB!!! and I reel it in with great exitement as i immedieately realise its points time 7!...yeah bonus! I look at my partner also our club captain and he's smiling back at me a as he also just landed a KOB, result 79cm Kob(mine) 75cm(Captain) measured at the weigh-in.

All this action and it was only 11:30am, I make a couple more throws with livies and only managed to get another sandy of 72cm which dount count for points.
The wind turns at its picked a bit tide was up and fish has gone off the bit then at about 1pm my third partner cast into a nice formed hole which offered him a 69cm Blue ray! his first Blue Ray and very memorable one at that as it nearly ran down to the fence and offered a stiff fight.

By 2pm we decide to packup and head down to surf road at strandfontein to put out at least 1 slide very much hopeful to catch a bronzie as a real bonus fish but alas it was not to be as 4pm was lines up and which brought a good days fishing to and end.

Needles to say I slept like a rock this morning!

Only pics of the Kob were taken as all other fish where measured and released immediately.

Forgot to mention other fish that were caught, was another Kob of 85cm in the strand area to the right of Kerkie by Marcc - He still floeking cos he thought he won the day! Sowwy Marc maybe next time!

One of our Juniors managed a 35kg Bronzie, a 60cm duckbill by one of the Seniors plus  a 52cm Kob.

Unlucky still was Earlb who lost a monster bronzie on slide after some spectacular arial dispays the hooks were straightened , toughies there boet!

Hey! Shahiem it seems that the bronzies are all going airbourne these days.Yesterday Tim and i fished Macs.Tim was on his way to reel in both his lines  to leave for home when his shark rod was pulled flat.the fish ran a few meters and then gave an arial display of note and snapped his leader like it was cotton.Mine at least surficed when it took the bait and ran me into my braid. Then proceed to jump once run again and jump a second time straightening my top hook.
