Stilbaai in January

Hi All

I will be heading out to Stilbaai in early January for around one week. I only really get to fish in the holidays and the odd outing during the year, and I have never fished Stilbaai.
Has the area been producing lately and where could a not-so-fit toppie and his 12-year-old son get some edibles action? Also any bait collection tips for the area would be appreciated.

You can get prawns at the river and buy some bait from a tackle shop. At the river close to the bridge (cob) or more towards the sea side (grunter).
Surf fishing, follow the road signs to the "Preekstoel", there is parking very close to the surf. Tjokka, white mussel, red bait, here you can catch anything.

Is January a good time to fish Stilbaai?

Yes, it will be a good time. If you are a surf fishing guy, you can drive to Jongensfontein ( 8km), good fishing spots, mainly rocks, but on the left there is also a surf (sandy) bay.
