I am currently located in Angola, and trying to purchase some suitable stand-up rods for Big Game fishing out here. Not much available in the local shops so it looks like I will be trying to import from overseas. I originally asked my supplier to provide Shimano Tallus stand-up rods to match my Shimano 50WLRSA reels but he has told me that a far better option is the Star Plasma Rod 40 - 100 6' 0" Stand-up with straight butt model number something like PSU4010060. He said that they are by far the most popular rods in use in the USA just now and get rave reviews from everyone using them. Personally I don't know anything about them and can't find anyone who uses them out here!
Can anyone give me a heads-up on this rod with regard to value for money, quality and comparability with the Shimano?
