St.Lucia Mouth

Hi Guys,

Fished St.Lucia area this w/end. There were a lot of questions concerning the mouth. Well, since its breach in March of this year, it’s now closed…. In fact, when walking on the beach, one would never say it was ever open. There are just tons and tons of sand. Below are random pics of the area now.

Concerning the fishing, the sea was a chocolate brown color…. Opted to fish the lake area with light tackle. From 5lb fire line to mono as thin as 2kg. On Saturday, Chris, Daryl and his gf Tracy and I braved the wind and made our way to the Lake.

Within a short period of time we racked up numerous species from, Lesser, Bar Tail Flat heads, Big Eye kings, shad, Saddle Back Grunter, Southern Pompano, Strepies, Spotted Grunter, Perch, Pinkies, Black Tail, Black Tip kings, Sole and a Mike Corbett fish :spite. That’s a total of 14 species! Special mention goes to Tracy, wow; she really put the boys to shame and racked up 16 fish all by herself! Big ups!!!!! Saw some amazing splashes and chases….. one in particular was a Garrick of approx 4kg, sometimes clearing the water in pursuit of a shad.

Sunday – Saw us land a few fish. Daryl and I concentrated on just drop shotting. We both landed a rare specie each…… Devil Fish! One was taken on Camo Worm and the other on Blood Worm. They really beautiful fish and after a quick and awkward pic, they were released. Switched to bait and went away with a good fish…. After a while, I think it realized it was hooked and the turbo kicked in! Well, sadly the lil pinky hook I was fishing with pulled open and as they say….. sh!t happens.

Well, even though the fish we caught where not monsters, they def gave an excellent account of themselves on the tackle we used. Thanks for the w/end D and Co….. True memories!!!!

Hey E

sup ma boy.Great report and great pics man.Eish, had I know you caught one of them fire/devil fish,i would have told you to keep em for me fish tank.I have 4 of them fish.

Really really sad about the mouth man.I really hope that the estuary does not get raped now with all the fish stranded there.unfortunately and chances are that this wil inevitably happen. So all you poachers out there be warned. You will be cursed by the God's of the Estuary.

Tell me bro,is honeymoon Bend been cleared up of all them old trees and logs and long grass which was in the water.Did you try fishing there.Shoudl be a lekker place to wet a line as it is nice and quiet.

Eish,Darryl,I am not sure who looks better the fish or you mate.just kidding big boy.

Looks like you guys had some gr8 fun.

Cheers

Garrick
