Hi All
I’m pleased to post the decisions taken at last night’s (17 May 2011) SSEC:WC members meeting. Apologies for not being able to do it earlier. It was due to Sealine being off air for a day.
1. The meeting was unfortunately poorly represented as only 10 members, including a new member, J de Reuck and his better half (Oops, forgot her name!) attended.
2. Logistical arrangements: Betties Bay monthly Club competition – 20 August 2011
2.1. Venues: Start: – Gordons Bay BP (Cnr Gordons Bay Drive and Beach Rd)
Weigh in: - Kogelbaai ate Ronde Klippe (Jo-Jo will post a Google map of the location)
2.2. Competition Secretaries: Strepie (Ruaan) assisted by Seawiid (Herman)
2.3. Start and end times of competition:
Issuing of score cards: 06:00 – 06:30
Weigh-in: 15:00 (All catches and score cards to be at Weigh-in venue BEFORE 15:00) Weigh-in starts 15:00 sharp. Any latecomers will be disqualified.
2.4. Confirmation of Arrangements. Program and Rules:
The Competition Secretaries will be responsible for the compilation of a report on the competition and submit to the Club’s Marketing Officer, Rinex (Fabian). Persons taking photos should forward their photos to Rinex for inclusion in his final report.
All normal Club competition rules will apply.
Full Rules can be viewed on the SSEC:WC Announcements thread.
An entrance fee of R10,00 is payable by all members participating. Non-members (guests) do not pay any entrance fee and are not eligible for any prizes.
Additional bonus points for attendance:
Attendance of monthly Club competitions from start to finish (weigh-in) = 15 points
Partial attendance of monthly club competitions (by prior arrangement with Competition Secretary) = 10 points
Partial attendance of monthly Club competitions without prior arrangement with Competition Secretary = 5 points
Attendance (for at least 30 minutes) of Social after weigh-in = 15 points
NB: Should a participant not personally submit his score card at the weigh-in time, even with prior arrangement with the Competition Secretary, no points shall be awarded for his or her catches on the day.
Members who do not make the starting time (06:30) will have one hour grace until 07:30 to collect their Score Cards from the Competition Secretary, Strepie (Ruaan) wherever he might be. Late-comers can contact him on his Cell (082 eight207 58three) to establish his whereabouts and to collect their Score Cards from him BEFORE the expiry of the one hour grace period. Please note that he WILL NOT issue Score cards to members who do not meet the final cut-off time (07:30). Any members who do not meet this grace period shall be disqualified from the competition. They may, however, participate in the day’s fishing on a non-competitive basis and attend the weigh-in/ social event, thus earning 15 points for attending the Social event.
In line with a recent Management Committee decision only paid-up members who have updated their particulars with the Treasurer, Mobi Dick (Nico) will be allowed to compete. Mobi Dick will provide a list of paid-up and updated members to the Competition Secretaries.
2.5. After party: Weather permitting, the after weigh-in social (bring and braai) will take place at the weigh-in venue.
3. Year-end function: Two provisional dates were set, depending on the availability of the Hunt & Polo Club’s facilities. These are 17 and 24 September 2011. The preferred date is 24 September with the next club comp date being 17 September 2011. These dates may, however change around depending on the availability of the Hunt & Polo Club on 24 September 2011. It was decided that the Management Committee will meet to discuss and plan the Year-end function and report back to members.
4. Next competition dates:
· 17 or 24 September 2011 (Tweede baai, Monwabisi)
· 21 October 2011 (All night competition – False Bay – specific area to be confirmed)
5. Short clinics/presentations at monthly meetings: It was decided that short clinics/presentations will be offered at future monthly Club meetings on a variety of subjects. The Management Committee will arrange these presentations. These presentations would be open to all interested persons.
6. Recent Club comp at Cape Point and RASSPL comp – feedback: Notwithstanding the relatively bad weather and resultant poor fishing it was generally agreed that both events were a great success. Especially the social event at the Cape Point competition was viewed as one of the best Club social events of the year.
7. New members – One new member attended the meeting. A hearty welcome to Jean (JdeReuck) and his pretty wife that accompanied him to the meeting.
8. The meeting adjourned at about 21:00
