most of the newer spinning reels do this to the braided line. what the coning dose is prevent the braid from rubbing against its self when under pressure . . if u want the line to be even ,look on the shaft under where the spool sits and you will see some small spacer washers there . . by adding or subtracting these washers u can manipulate the shape of the line on the spool . . . personally the cone shape is the best way to go . . . hope this helps
