Spinning & Popping outfit

What are you asking though?
What fish are you targetting and from where?

In KZN, spinning from the shore, the Amia 11ft with Sustain 5000 and 15lb Gosen is numzane. This will throw a variety of lures well from spoons to poppers, targetting Kingfish, Garrick, Snoek and Kob...

You can go lighter depending on what youre planning to hook into.

Hi Chris, thanks for the sole reply! I deleted the post after about 2 weeks with no response, I followed my own advice and bought a set-up already.

No need to apologise mate, we're all busy and it was not exactly a subject that had never been covered before, I never expected too much interest.

Hopefully the next thread I start will be to show some results with the new gear :SSS

I will do, thanks. Got some small leeries and shad when I took it for a test drive, I'll post some decent results soon I hope ^^..

That Sustain is the bomb!!  Only problem I've got with it is line capacity.  How much 30lb braid did you get onto it EugeneC?

Don't know exactly how much tbh Spoedvraat, but I reckon about 250m. If line capacity is a concern and you have the rod to match the weight, the 8000 spool fits the 6000 reel I've been told, but obviously holds a fair amount more line.

I must be honest, in 20 something years of fishing from the side I have yet to hook an edible fish that made me nervous about the amount of line on my reel...but then again maybe I just haven't hooked a real monster yet :SSS

depends on the braid, but 250-300m will fit no problem.
anything peeling more than 200m is probably going to break you off anyway.
