Spinning in Mtunzini

I am going to be in Mtunzini from Thursday to Saturday and would like to go down to the mouth and spin in the evenings and early mornings. When I lived in Zululand we could still drive on the beaches so never had to walk. I have heard there is a path that runs from the car park on the river through the bush to the mouth. Will this be shorter than walking up the beach from the beach parking and if so how do I find the start of the path and approximately how long will this trek take. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Hi there Huntley,

I dont have detailed info for you, but can help you with a cell number of a tackle/bait shop in Mtunzini who also does weekly angling reports. Am not sure how updated his info is, but its worth a call & giving a try.
The walk from the car park to the beach is +-1 -1,5km.

Thanks Ben. I'll contact them when I get there. Looks like the SW is going to be blowing like hell so maybe have to make another plan.

If you a planning a fishing trip, try postpone, but if you going anyway try the lagoon to avoid S.wind.....

Hi Ben. Thanks once again for the info. I did manage to fish on Thursday and Friday evenings. There was a strong side wash on Thurday so took your advice and tried the river. Got a 4 kg kob on an Xwrap walk of all things. Tried again for a short while on Friday but the wind and pouring rain got to me so didn't fish for too long. No fish for my troubles.

Nicely done, at least you landed a decent fish & had success.
Well done.
With the weather being upside down it should take a while to settle again, but hopefully fishing the winter will be in full swing again.
