spinning for yellow tail

I need some advice. I've been keen to do some spinning for yellow tail in false bay but not sure what kind of set up you need and where to try. I know that the guys are spinning at rooikrans in the Reserve but it seems to be a bit of a mission. can you spin at smithswinkel bay?
can anyone give me some advice on location and timing?

10ft - 11ft rod, 11ft being max.
Elbe make a nice yellowtail rod, just change the eyes.
Daiwa sealine SL50H multplying reel. 15kg breaking strain line. Alot of really shiny spoons and plugs in the 2oz-3oz variety. REALLY, REALLY sharp hooks.
Rooikrans is your best bet, if you want catches, this is the spot. You could also try Fishoek area say from the catwalk ( very depending on weather ), Simons town I believe the gunnery produces, then there's Rooiels. But that is about it. I know everyone goes to Rooikrans and you need to be down there as the gate opens. Hope your casting is good, cause if you burn someoneoff when they are fighting a fish, well it wont be pretty.
Never, ever cast into a shoal, they will scare and be gone.
Cast well ahead and draw it past the leaders, when one takes the rest follow him in and this enables others to
to have a go. Buy a really long gaff, I wouldnt recommend a sliding gaff as this sometimes cuts the head off. As for weather, wait for the SE to pump for a few days, normally 3 days, this warms up the water and brings the tail in. Go on the 4th day when it drops a bit. It canbe a waiting game as it is unpredictable, you can get there at 7am and wait until 4pm before a shoal appears, so take coffee.
There is an entrance fee of I think R75. Good luck, oh and at rooikrans there is a stone basin that gets filled up with water to keep your fish cool and out of the sun down at the bottom.

I have seen guys spinning at Smits before. I also saw a sign near the road from where u walk down saying no fishing though??... the guys walked right past with their rods and plugs and threw off the rocks to the right of the beach. They normaly trek from there with a lookout up on the side of the mountain signalling with a wistle and flags when a shoal of fish come through.

so no luck yesterday. ran down at smiths but the tide needs to be low for you to spin there apparently so we ran up and went spinning at the railway, past the gunnery at simonstown..
