Howzit everyone im looking at getting an exeller oceano for spinning from the boat my only question is , is the gear ratio fast enough to get a good action out of a spoon especially for fish like queen mackerel that like a fast retrieve? Any other comments about the reel would also be appreciated

Howzit bud, if I was you I would rather go with a shimano stradic, will maybe cost you abit more but its gona do a better job and last a lot longer!

If it's Daiwa you're after, then rather go for the Saltist 4500. Has a 6.2:1 ratio, a strong reel and very cost effective.

I'd stay away from the oceano, I had one a while ago that I used off the boat a few times, it started getting a bit tight before siezing completely, sent it in to be fixed but it was so badly seized and corroded inside it could not be repaired, I also had 2 other daiwa excellers and both only lasted 2 years. My shimano and penn grinders have been far better!

Take a look at the penn spinfisher V, I have a couple and they are fantastic
