Here is a SPHEROS SW 20 000 i am servicing for Don Van Blommenstein. Upon opening i encounted more water than expected, the roller bearing unit had started corroding, the roller sleeve was showing rust too. Check the pinion gear and the main teeth this is from oxidation, the main gear showed signs of wear on the teeth and has salt corrosion starting on the gear surface itself. What suprised me was the oxidation and crystalization of the OEM shimano grease. Look closely at the gearing and bearings to clearly see this. When this happens the grease is breaking down so does protection and crystalization is followed by serious salt corrosion i find. The bushes on this reel i am going to replace with bearings bringing it inline with the Saragossa model. The inards are just about identical, the drag systems differ a bit. Have a close look to see what i mean.

I found more water inside the reel than i ideally would have liked

Check the grease crystalized around the bearing edges, after this corrosion eats into metal
