Specimen Weights (Lead)

Hi All

I am struggling to find specimen weights (gripper, distance, pear) at a reasonable price. Everywhere i've looked the weights are around R15-R20 each!

Can anyone assist with a contact where i can get reasonably priced specimen weights? ^^..

Try Knotts Outdoor Paradise their prices are pretty good on most stuff. Plus they have a decent range of specimen gear.

I think that is about the going price.
Not too sure if you'll get them at much cheaper than that.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Best prices so far, by far, is Ground Zero Angling at R9 (4-6oz).
It looks good too with a camo style finish _seal1_

@ Kusaf - Do you have a contact for that pricing?

Buy some round stones at your local nursery and make your own weights. Works out to 50c each. Bend a peace of soft wire and glue to rock surface with qbond. Attach to hooklink with string which will brake when u get a run. _seal1_

That sounds like an awesome tip,do you perhaps have a pic or two of how the weights look when finished?

also used to do this,but i collected rocks from the venue im fishing,and used a rekkie/rubberband. soon as a fish took it the rock came off,worked perfect every time. but only if you a taking in your lines with a inflatable.

cheapest and best cammo weight ever!!!!

I have a mould with all the weights , 2 or 3 diff styles if you want can throw you a batch wont powder coat them though , plain lead .PM me if in terested .

no not really...the round landscaping rocks are heavy for their size. I will never use a R10 lead weight again. Were at rietvlei last week and prob had 30 runs between us. Do the math on the cost.:shock:

True..and that big stone will leave your safety clip together with a section of line sticking up suspended much higher than a lead gripper every time...

dont need a safety clip...rock is attached to hooklink swivel with "garing" which will break with the run. Noting is suspended.

Oh i see,lol....that wil take some fine tuning with what strenght " garing" you need,so to get a good hook set before breaking away and making sure it does break away.This also changes the rig dynamics completely..
