I admit my original post was a little tongue-in-cheek, because that's the way these kind of threads usually go. But I have personally caught much bigger carp in WC waters (not in CT though) than most people would believe and, if nothing else, I would really love to believe there are BFC that size in Cape waters, so I'm with you mate.

Re the rain, I sincerely hope the situation comes to an end very soon for all involved.

I have looked everywhere on all past publications going back way past the actual catch and could not find this front page you are referring to... I wish it was cause that would mean I could share the pics with you guys, but I could not find them. I even went on facebook trying to find it there but to no avail...

if it wasnt a front page then it must have been in the book but it was caught by Edwin Theron if we talking about the same fish

Fishpaste, you're right, that fish of Mr Theron's was on a mag cover or something, I have also seen it published before. I think it was in 2016 though if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, it's a shame that the sport has to be the way it is in CT, but enough has been said about that. Danie, I wish you every success in your venture, hopefully you can succeed where many others have failed and get a proper specimen club/syndicate/whatever format you have in mind going.

Thanks Eugene. Its honestly great to hear some positive things being said about what I am trying to do. As you could probably see with edits I made to my posts, I have not had a good day. And the biggest part of that was once again being reminded that instead of getting help from the community I get the opposite. Its rather demoralizing to be honest. I have so far spent 380+ hours on this project - my own free time - and there are many many hundreds of hours of work still remaining. If the outcome of my efforts is as good as it can be and it goes VERY well then I might get something out of it financially, but it would take decades for that little money to pay for the 1000+ hours of my free time I am offering up for this. So the point is I am not doing for me but for the love of the sport hoping to grow it and make it better.

After a carp angling hiatus of 7 years I dug out the rod bag and moldy leftover boilies and had a weekend in the Cederberg. Now I have the itch again.

As Western Cape SACS representative some 10 years ago I assessed probably a 100 dams and almost wrecked my marriage trying to get some managed venues going, but eish... It is not only the obvious stuff like bad apples that wreck it for everyone, but also other issues like poor nutrition, overpopulation and terrible strains that makes it difficult down here (BTW, it doesn't look much better up north nowadays). And for thinking that WC farmers will fall over their feet to earn an extra few grand a month, well, I never met any of them.

So: what is the news on these Cape Town venues in progress?
