Spearfishing vacation

Hey guys I need some info...

I would like to take the family away on a overseas vacation......but where ever we go I wopuld like to be able to do some spearfishing. I know you can't shoot fish at Mauritius and some of those resort type islands. Where can I go to that offer the resort type vaction for the family and when I have the time can charter a small vesel and go spear fish for an hour or 2? Would need to be some where exotic and stylish for family.

Any input would be appretiated, thanks guys!!

Hi DSM,

Northern Madagascar has some good areas, like Nosy Be, but these can be best off a charter yacht.  Lovely diving!

Mozambique has some great resorts and good blue water diving without having to go too far.  You can also organise fly in there if you can afford it.

Thanks, what I forgot to mention was that I'm looking for a family experience as the 2 little ones will be taging along, so there would need to be like a kids club - child minders and also a golf resort of some type for those days that the weather is not good for diving. In other words a Mauritius type vaction experience but in a place where one can spearfish!!

I know of a chap that took the family along to Bali and did some spearfishing while there.Maybe look into that.

I have a friend that organises spearing trips to Tanzania and the rest of Africa,he went last year and got a 50kg Doggie.He also took his family to Tanzania.

I dive with him fairly often and it is nice having the wealth of experience on the boat.Lucky bugger got a 30kg Daga in 3m of water yesterday!
