Love the vid Steve. The raggy reminds me of my first West Rock dive.
Are you comming up to EL for the start of the sard run? We should see if we can get some diving in together if you are.

Hey There are quite a few small Ambers around that area. In fact there are often some surprising catches / sighting out there. I've had a black marlin come past me in the shallows (15m) in 5m vis and water not warm. A friend, Sjimon de Waal, shot Wahoo there, when others were shooting yellowtail. I even heard of a Cuda being caught their this year. That Struisbaai/Arniston area is special

i'm thinking of getting a gopro camera but there seems to be a few different models.

which lens does yours come with? are the lens interchangeable?

Hey
I have a HD Surf Hero model. Its got a wide angle lens which isn't interchangeable.
For filming above water it's great, but underwater the focus is slightly out! I was disappointed with the image quality. I did send Gopro some emails but they were pretty useless and told me that they know about the problem and might fix it.
No product testing ?
If you want to film underwater I'd wait till they do better and fix the problem

brilliant video, fuels my desire to spearfish even more, keep them coming. Just off topic, what do you do when a GW approaches? I've read alot on this site, but I wanna hear from u steve..

thanks steve

will wait a bit longer. a friend has a video camera in a housing that can take brilliant videos even in 2m visibilty at 16m deep.only problem is it costs over R 30 000 and he bought it direct from france

Key is to keep eye contact and let the GW know that you can see it.
If it approaches you then you MUST swim toward it. It doesn't feel right at the time but the it will make the shark think twice. Don't sprint away splashing and making alot of noise, you'll just create extra interest.
Try stay calm, call for the boat and get out.
GW's are incredibly curious and most often they're just coming to have a look you.

You make it look way easier than I am sure it is! Gunna do my research and possibly get into the whole spearo thing.

Now that's the first time I hear of that method, very interesting. Thanks

Hi, the reason GoPro may not be responding is that they've already corrected the soft image problem with the Hero 3. I've used a Hero 3 black edition and it's vastly improved over the GoPro2 and no need for a housing
