Will be interesting to see what she does in a big following sea, whats the beam on that boat?

WOW BFC not to be a bother but u do seem to dislike a butt cat.
For a start i have run 45ft sport fishers all over, EU to carribean to america and brazil and and and. most monos and a cat. I am a mate on a 40 meter yacht and have towed these boats on some serious sea with these boats;
most of the monos where 2 300hp or 3 300hp
cat was 2 350
Now all i wanted to know is how the boat handeled in a head sea with a slight chop ( on the nose ) 3 - 6 ft
If its any thing like the boat we had.
thats how my body felt and the bolts and to mention the stress cracks that developed in the end ( 6 months)

Dudes, Buttcats are the best I've ever been on yet the South African mentality that makes Toyotas the only cars to drive and Yammies the only boat motors worth having stifles competition and encourages dealers to raise the prices of these items. SA must now have the highest prices in the world for these brands. Why defend them so aggressively? Granted, Butts are priced well and made locally - however, competition may work to the consumers advantage. Constructive criticism may help the builders produce another legendary vessel.

We all have different opinions. I think a but cat is nice, but not the best. Especially in that size boat. If I were in the market for a 28' boat, it would be a Mallards Citation.
On the smaller size boats I would much rather have a Z Craft or a Yeld. Yelds are actually very well priced and the lead time has gotten better. They are still considered one of THE best Zulu coast boats available along with Z-Craft and Tom cats.
Butt cats are very wet when we are running home through our short chop and a stiff NE.
Not dissing them, great boats but there are other options. Cape anglers are dominant on Sealine, so it is going to be a one sided debate.

Could not agree , more , If any of the Natal builders would make the effort of building some 24-28ft walk around configurations it would be interresting , I would love to see a 26ft Z-craft or 24ft Tom Cat in the mix - paired with some 150 Hondas/Verado's on the Back . Yeld Cat would also be nice to see but dont see them doing R&D. 90% of the reason you dont see this is that size boat is difficult to transport and Kamassi being reletavely central in terms of transport has got the EasternCape/WesternCape market locked down .

There is a 24ft tomcat ins simons town called red eye, has twin 140 suzukis and is owned by a guy that used to frequent the site but no longer, his avatar is Orange and i know his first name is Ross. I fished with Tim Bacon on his 24ft hydrofoil assited cat and tim has fished on Ross's tom cat, says it ride well, really good with a following sea, there is a video of the tom cat on youtube and the sea is *** but jeez she is stomping proper siff but that just what i get from the video which means nothing!

I think that you should be a little more open minded than believing no cat will ever be better than a butt. No-one will deny that butts are awesome and some of the best, if not the best out there. But that is not to say that a new cat will not be developed that can improve on those legendary qualities.
The benchmark in any given industry will from time to time change.. Think of 10 years ago, 90% of us used Nokia cell phones. They were the 'only' phone to have and very few people will consider alternatives as they were 'just not as good'. And now? Blackberry's and iPhones are the order of the day. Did anyone see that coming 10 years ago? I would say that the marine division at Yamaha are in the same boat (pardon the pun) with the onslaught from Suzuki, Honda and Mercury. Did anyone see that coming 15 years ago? There are 1000's of examples across all industries.
All I'm saying is don't shoot a new product down before you have used it, let alone seen it. Butt cats will not dominate for ever and this boat might be the game changer, you never know.

guys seriously, im just playing!! this whole thing is a bit of a joke, really everyone will have a preference, i like plenty cats other than butts and i really like certain monos! I love the citation and rodman hull, the ge cat 35 is a beast, feel how soft a magnum 28 is into a head sea, check how much weight a 25ft capie can deal with.. every one is gonna have an idea and its really up to preference and personal experience.. and these are just local boats!
obviously butt cats are not the one and only, im not a one minded idiot, obviously i am biased. just as i would be if i told you suzuki is better than yammies..
I love boats in general, this new cat looks great, its wonderful seeing more and more boats in the market! but i am allowed to apear as a nasty butt cat only fan if i want to, cus got one!

This new boat is not really aimed at competing head to head with Buttcat , and more aimed as a big fishing /leisure cruiser upmarket boat and in Markets like Seychells/ Mauritius and a few Durban/Cape Clientele.
The 28ft boat is currently the smallest cat , with 36/45/60ft'ers being the other sizes, the smallest boat will be my 16,6Ace craft and looks like a dinghy compared to the others.
