Some old rods...

@ ZXT......I did a bit of scratching on the net wrt the specific rods & Roddy reel....seems as if Heddon was the maker of the rods & reel....subject to confirmation though.

Regarding the rod in the 3rd and 4th pic (the green rod).
I have a similar rod which I used as my first fishing rod. Chatting to my father, he said he thinks he remembers using it on Lake Kariba in 1969.
I used to use it to catch blacktail and stumpnose off Umdloti beach in the mid 80's. I think it was paired with a small closed spool Mitchell grinder.
He couldn't find any makers names on the rod, but he thinks it was made locally.
I reckon with a bit of a refurb on the guides, it could be put to use on some grunter. Very whippy rod, which easily bends past 90degrees and 2.07m long.
They just don't make things like they used to:

Hi Ben. I have the same rod as yours, same colour bindings square at the end the works.
Its got the name Phantom Favorite printed on it. I had a quick look on line but no luck.
I don't have the handle for it so have just made a handle round the blank making the rod about a foot shorter. Awesome little rod.
Its my most used little rod for Grunter.
If you get tired of yours let me know.

My only hassle is that the little reel packed up & I am looking for a good similar reel to use on it again.
I used this little set-up for catching Kurpers years back, & it performed so well with a sizer on......it is actually awesome to see the old rods performing so well.
