Pucky you are right , perhaps bhugwav can take us practice fishing for shad out of season . We won't actually catch any shad just go around to all the spots and throw baited lines into the water just to check those out of season shad :spite. Other thing is I am not your "bro."

Of course im your Borther, bru! I'm your brother from another mother.

There is alot to learn before you even take a crayfish. EG: Can Blugwav even swim, or does he know how to read the currents, Does he have the right equipment to make it a more pleasurable experiance.

And yes you can catch Shad (you don't have to have a shad trace to catch shad) out of season as long as you put them back   vvidevb

Buy a full one, the main reason is for the added protection agaist the rocks, fire weed, blue bottles, jellyfish, The Sun,

You will also be able to spend more time in the water with a full suit because even though we have warm water here your body temp drops fast when diving.

Ah, crayfish season is 6 weeks away!

@bhugwav: You do not need a wetsuit, but it makes it plenty easier. I often dive with baggies, rashvest and gloves, and always end up cut to bits on the rocks :) Don't forget the weightbelt!

You will probably find that in your first season it is really hard to see the bugs when you get in the water, but once you see the first one, you will suddenly see plenty!

Watch out for the eels, they have really sharp teeth.

Remember your measuring tool too.

thanks Nicos, what is the purpose of the weight belts?
Th 1st five meters of water is (i think) positive gravity, meaning you will float to the surface. Once you go below five meters in depth you will start to sink. So in order to stay down with out using up to much energy we use a weight belt. The deeper you dive the less weight you use. Generally if you are doing a point dive we put more weight on to keep us down cause we are never going below the 5 meter mark. hope that helps

A wetsuit makes you super bouyant, so without a weightbelt you are not going to be able to get and stay down, even in 2m of water!

Cheap gardening gloves are fine!

If you are new to wetsuits and belts, have a couple of practice sessions in the pool to get your bouyancy right before you go to sea.

Another tip i can give you if you dive between the dik kelp , rather use shorter 'bodyboarding fins ' you are much more manuvarable [spelling] .

No worries mate !! all good , all good
