Hi Sealiners ,

Planning a weekend fishing trip at Smilin Thru ,can someone please advise on

bait ,dips etc.

Still a very , very amateur "fisherman" ,any advise will be appreciated.

This venue is better suited for fly-fishing, mostly slow flowing waters and rapids

rietvlei straces. if you cant make them, buy them from your local tackle shop to get you started.
get yourself 4kg supercast feed mix - 2cups of feed and one cup of water and leave for 20mins
hook baits - maize pips (banjo, almond, honey, garlic)
backing - brown bread paste or dough
other hook baits - dough/floatie/worms

almond
stattaford
peach


you dont have to fish deep.....30-40m would be fine.

Hi There ,

Spoke to the owner expressing concern about the area being suitable for flyfishing only but was assured that there are areas that is suitable for fishing carp / muddies so hopefully it will work out.
