Small multiplier setup

Hi, I'm looking to get a small multiplier setup for lure fishing on the strand reefs. The grinders just don't last on the reefs and are to much of a mission to service after every session.

So I'd like some advise on a small multiplier, I'm thinking Daiwa SL 20 at the moment but I'm open for suggestion?
Torium 14? Maybe the little penn reels?
I'll probably pair it with an 10-11ft 1-3oz rod.

Is any there anybody fishing lures on braid with these multipliers? I'm just thinking casting lures in the south east wind with braid might be a mission.

Ha cool, didn't see it in the ads section though, on FB?

I also looked at the ABU reels 6600 or something like that but don't know how durable they are for wading etc?

If possible look for something with a levelwind and magnetic cast control.

There are some really solid looking saltwater bait casters around now.

I think the baitcaster are a bit to tech for my application. I'm considering the levelwind option though, looking at Shimano TR100... if the levelwind gets to much will just take it off and plug the holes. It's just a tad slow though 4.3:1.

Tor14 all the way

Strong, robust, easy to service

Spool light and spins up even on 1oz

Great to fish with Mono or Braid and has a Magging or 8 pin centrifugal breaking system.

It seems the tor 14 have been discontinued though. Do you know of any shops that still have?

I think you may need to extend your research on baitcasters a bit.

Check Daiwa Catalina Bay Jiggers, Daiwa Ryoga Bay Jigger, some of the Abu Revos, even he original Shimano Calcutta.

The Daiwa Lexa range also looks very nice.

The two bay jigging daiwa reels are serious pieces of equipment.

Include Ecooda Inshore and Okuma KomodoDoya

However I do tend to agree with DJP, these reels are built for Inshore fishing off boats and with the large amounts of extras and bearings etc they are just as impractical for continuous wading sessions on the reefs

The above options are good but stay away from the abu reels for the reefs.

This would be a perfect reel. How important is the levelwind?
Level winds can be problematic.

loved my 15/30.. not a 6+ retrieve reel but close enough and if you fishing braid like in a 60pound range then should be ample capacity

agree with grootvis (down with level winds they dictate distance sometimes + leader length / knots) nothing wrong with the 15 squall either though i don't own one.. pity the Fathom 2 speed lever drag 15 is not available here..would of been perfect and will throw a country mile

Hmmm some interesting thoughts, thanks for the comments. Levelwind not that important, in fact it's just another thing that might be a hassle. Problem is also if you have a leader knot and the debris gets stuck on it, buggers your levelwind quite quickly.
I'm still going to see if I cant get a torium 14, contacting some of the smaller shops that might have old stock.
I have a Daiwa sl30 and shimano 15/30 but looking for something just a bit smaller and lighter.

Cool thanks, if you want to sell pm me a price and we can talk.
If it ends up not what I need I will just use it of my kayak.
