Hi There
I have read all the posts with regards to sliding, but I cant get my bait down to the stopper, It slides fine till it hits the waves and then stops, does the weights on the clipps make a big difference?? Tried sliding at Struisbaai plaat a couple oftimes but I now gave up in digust.:headb

You have to shake and work your bait further - I know this might be a stupid question but do you have the no return clip on the right way or are you using normal bait clips?

MOST importantly you need to make sure that your sinker either 8 or 9ounce needs to have heavy wire grapnels so it can stay stuck in the sand, and the line needs to to stay VERY tight, that allows the slide clip to move down the line, if there is too much flex in the line it will just roll around in the waves and not move forward!! also if the bait you are trying to slide is to big it doesnt go out as easily, a last note is you need a MIN stroke 3 rod to slide, anything less is just not good enough :) hope i helped you!!

No I use a Beach master with .55 as mainline and the biggest bait I tried was a shad of +/- 750 gm ,but I will try again

The beachmaster will be fine. Its a case of working out the "rythym" that you need to use to achieve satisfaction........like many things in life!!

Hi Bunks,

The advice the ESA guys gave in one episode a few months back, was use small,sharp strokes to get the bait to the water, once the bait is in the water and can't be seen, use longer,less agressive strokes to get it to the stopper ring. Depending on how far out your sinker is, 5 minutes (ave) of shaking is normally enough to get your bait to your stopper.

This is just a guideline, hope it helps.

No worries Bunks, besides i wasn't offended, just found it a bit weird

Listen back to the topic, i haven't even tried the whole sliding thing yet and going to have to be able to do it soon. So thanks for your post, the information is helping me to.
